Blackmagic Ursa Cine 12K LF - stripped version without accessories
Blackmagic Design is now releasing a new version of its Ursa model with 12K video, where accessories are excluded for a lower price.
Blackmagic Ursa Cine 12K LF is a new model version that comes without accessories such as shoulder support, handles, lens mounts, battery plates, power supply, lenses, and the 8 terabyte media module. By stripping down the camera, filmmakers can purchase these separately as needed, which provides a lower price for those who already have equipment.
The new model has a new CFexpress module with dual CFexpress card slots and an integrated EF lens mount as standard. For those using other lenses, it can also be used with other lens mounts that can be purchased separately. The camera can also use 10 gigabit ethernet for fast transfer via network.
Ursa Cine LF also has the new 12K sensor in full format with a symmetrical color filter that allows scaling directly in the sensor, meaning the ability to film in 12K, 8K, or 4K with full sensor width and choose resolution, along with the ability to crop the image.
When working in 8K in 2.4:1 format, the camera can film up to 224 frames per second, and in 8K 3:2 format open gate up to 144 frames per second. Recording in 12K 3:2 open gate can be done up to 80 frames per second (or up to 120 frames per second in 12K 2.4:1).
The camera supports anamorphic filming in various aspect ratios, such as 1.3, 1.5, 1.6, 1.66, 1.8, and 2x de-squeeze. There are also 9K Super 35 4-perf, 3-perf, and 2-perf modes for full compatibility with classic film lenses for those seeking a certain feel in the material.
The camera also has 12G-SDI outputs, USB-C, XLR audio, a 5-inch HDR touchscreen, and an additional 2-pin Lemo 12V connection at the back for lower voltage accessories. It also supports H.264 proxy file alongside the original recording with immediate upload to Blackmagic Cloud, making the material available in real-time at the studio for, for example, DaVinci Resolve.
Blackmagic Ursa Cine 12K LF is available now. The price is 6,995 dollars excluding VAT. The exact Swedish price is not yet available.
Although the new Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K LF Body model is more cost-effective when purchased separately, it still includes the exact same features as the complete kit models. There is no difference in specifications compared to the higher-end URSA Cine camera kits.
It includes the exact same 12K full-frame RGBW 36 x 24 mm sensor as the other models and has the same large photo sites for 16 stops of dynamic range, interchangeable PL, LPL, and EF lens mounts, as well as industry-standard Lemo and Fischer connections. It comes with the EF lens mount as standard, but customers can purchase PL and LPL lens mounts as needed.
