Nikon releases LUT for N-Log in collaboration with RED

In March, we wrote about Nikon's acquisition of the cinema company RED - now comes the first joint news.

In March, Kamera & Bild wrote about Nikon's acquisition of the cinema company RED, which according to Nikon's CEO would lead to a greater focus on the company's cinema products. Now we see the first fruit of the collaboration: the possibility of LUT tables created for Nikon cameras in collaboration with RED.

RED is known for its cinema products and patented color technology, something that Nikon can now utilize in its cameras. Four new LUT tables have been released, which can create specific color gradings of film sequences recorded in N-Log with Nikon's mirrorless cameras.

The LUT tables can also be used to preview the result on an external monitor, which makes it faster and easier to see approximately what the final result can be. By using LUT, one can create a style that can be compared with film sequences that have been filmed with RED's film cameras when working with N-Log film sequences on Nikon's cameras.

Achromic LUT has a range of innovative features and can be used to give film sequences a monochrome effect with low contrast while preserving texture details, creating a soft and elegant style with a classic feel.

The LUT Film Bias can then give your N-Log film sequences a warm, film-like aesthetic with balanced colors and natural skin tones. This creates a subtle contrast that gives the film sequences a sophisticated character.

The LUT Film Bias Bleach Bypass provides an unsaturated style with high contrast inspired by the film technique Bleach bypass, giving the film sequences a rough, faded feel.

LUT: The Film Bias Offset which provides a film-like warmth and softness through its unique combination of color correction and contrast adjustment, enhancing the user's content.
