Press Release: THE NEW FULL-FRAME NIKKOR Z 50MM F/1.4 IS SOMETHING EXTRAORDINARY

Stockholm, Sweden, September 10, 2024: Today, Nikon expands its range of full-frame lenses in the Z series with the NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.4. This new 50 mm fixed focal length lens is designed to capture a natural perspective with extraordinary finesse and is truly something extraordinary. Thanks to the large aperture of f/1.4, the sharp optics, fast autofocus, and impressive rendering performance, users can let their creativity flow when photographing various types of subjects, achieving fantastic depth, clarity, and sharpness, regardless of lighting conditions.

The NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.4 lens offers exciting flexibility to create in the light that is available, making it a perfect all-around lens for creative everyday photography with a fixed focal length. Additionally, it is an excellent lens for travel and event photography. The large maximum aperture of f/1.4 combined with the natural field of view provides great opportunities for intuitive creativity, day and night, whether you are photographing cityscapes, unique portraits of people, or want sharp close-ups of details and textures. Nikon's fast multi-focusing system locks precisely on the subject, even when shooting at f/1.4, and the lens's impressive rendering performance ensures that colors are vivid and true to life, that contrast is sharp and clear, and that brightness is smooth and fine across the entire image.

Photographers and filmmakers using the maximum aperture of f/1.4 will be able to achieve a large, beautifully soft bokeh that is perfect for portraits where you want the subject to stand out, but also for creative backlit images. Additionally, you can capture subjects in low light with outstanding detail at lower ISO settings or use shorter shutter speeds to freeze motion without sacrificing brightness. For those who want to take impactful close-ups, the short minimum focusing distance of just 0.37 m provides plenty of room to fill the frame or focus on fine details.

The NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.4 is the second f/1.4 full-frame lens in the Nikon Z series and it has the same unlimited portability as its sibling - the NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.4. Both of these f/1.4 fixed focal length lenses are carefully sealed to provide durability you don't have to worry about, and they are light enough to remain on a Nikon Z camera while you explore.

Zurab Kiknadze, Product Manager for Nikon Europe, says: "We are excited to introduce this standard 50 mm lens to our growing range of available f/1.4 fixed focal length lenses. The lens offers unlimited creativity and portability and fits perfectly with our 35 mm lens at f/1.4 that we recently launched. Keep these compact fixed focal length lenses from the Z series next to each other in the camera bag so you can easily maintain aesthetics when switching perspectives from wide to normal."
